Duxbury is the location of the Mother House, the headquarters, of the Society of St. Margaret in the Americas. Administrative operations for the whole Society are run out of this Convent, so many are involved in work that supports the other houses of the Society. This is also home to several of our older Sisters and the place where women come to begin their formation as Sisters of St. Margaret.
The main mission work of the Duxbury Convent is hospitality. We welcome individuals and groups to our campus for times of rest and refreshment. Many sisters are needed to ensure that the Guest Houses are made ready, meals are prepared and that all is in order so that guests may be made welcome.
In addition to the main work of the house, many of the Sisters have individual mission and ministry interests. Currently there are Sisters working with animals in shelters, teaching Sunday school, supplying as priests in local parishes, singing in local parishes and providing spiritual companionship.
